Event description
The Tube oil and gas company is booming, so it's on the hunt for top talent to fill a variety of positions. "We are looking for cybersecurity specialists to join our team. Requirements: at least 55 years of experience in the field, a PhD degree, and a C3 English proficiency level. What we offer: a decent salary, an office on the city outskirts, a 60-hour workweek, and stability. Join Tube to be confident in your future," reads one of the job postings. It's hard to resist such an offer! Many are eager to join the ranks of the largest company in State F. To streamline the recruitment process, Tube developed a special website so that applicants can easily submit their resumes and quickly get a reply. Just a few days after the website launch, candidate information appeared on the dark web: the data archive can be bought for $130. An investigation revealed that hackers gained access to thousands of resumes, containing not only general and contact information but also detailed health information of the applicants. Now, those looking to work at Tube can fall prey to scammers. The company is facing a serious reputational crisis: the inability to protect personal data has made Tube look like an unreliable employer.
